Pager does not work when setting to vim with flags

When I set the pager to:

\pager vim -R

The output of queries don't go through the pager. It goes through less instead (I'm using a mac).

However, if I use

\pager vim

The output goes through vim.

Am I missing something obvious? I've tried to put ' and " around the command but it still does not work.

This could be because of the version of the click dependency. In mycli, we have now upgraded click to 8.3.1.
